Octopuses aren’t just smart — they’re shockingly petty, and science has receipts. In a 2022 study, researchers observed wild octopuses picking up shells, silt, and algae and intentionally launching them at nearby targets — including other octopuses. Some of the throws were clearly aggressive: → Direct hits to the body → Projectiles launched with their “arms” → Timing that aligned with territorial disputes And it wasn’t random. Octopuses adjusted the force, direction, and camouflage of the throws — which means they were doing it on purpose. Other octopus facts that read like a girl group bio: → They can unscrew jars from the inside → They taste with their skin → They hold grudges → They change shape, color, and texture in milliseconds → And some species self-destruct after motherhood Octopuses are problem-solvers, escape artists, and emotional weirdos. Basically: elite multitaskers with a flair for the dramatic. If there’s an animal that deserves a seat at the “emotionally intelligent but unpredictable” table… it’s them.
