Former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar has unfortunately passed away at the age of 44. Bryar started as a sound engineer for The Used and Thrice, before joining MCR in 2004 after the band had split with previous drummer Matt Pelissier. He toured in support of the ‘Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge’ album and drummed on ‘The Black Parade’ album, as well as appearing on their popular covers of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the Bowie/Queen track "Under Pressure.” Bryar was part of the writing for the follow-up ‘Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, but he exited the band in 2010 before the record was released. TMZ reports that the drummer was found in his home in Tennessee after not being seen since November 4th. No foul play was suspected and no cause of death has been revealed. You’ve probably seen the memes about Billy Corgan and Bill Burr looking a lot alike, but it turns out they might actually be brothers? The revelation came when the Smashing Pumpkins frontman was a guest on the "Howie Mandel Does Stuff Podcast" and revealed what his mother told him 10 years ago about the famous comedian. “I’ve never told it to anyone, In fact, most of my friends don’t even know this story.” “So, about 10 years ago, one of my brothers was having a birthday party and my stepmother was there who was obviously married to my father. And my stepmother said to me, ‘Do you know who Bill Burr is?’ Now at that point, I had never heard of Bill Burr, I didn’t know who he was. I didn’t know he was a comedian or anything. He could have been the guy down the street.” “And she said, ‘Well, he’s this comedian’.’ And I think I even somehow called up a picture on the phone — and I kind of noticed right away, ‘Gee, he kind of looks like my father,'” the singer recalled. “Bill Burr looks more like my father than Bill Burr looks like me or I look like Bill Burr.” “So, I said to my mother, ‘Why are you asking me this?’ I thought the first thing she was going to say was, ‘Oh, I thought you’d notice the resemblance.'” “She goes, ‘I think it might be one of your father’s illegitimate children. Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired in his days of being a traveling musician,' This is a true story. I’m not making this up, there is no joke in this. This is a true story. I’ve never told this anywhere, honestly.” #rock #metal #grunge #90s #smashingpumpkins
Spiritbox recently secured their second Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance” and in a new conversation with Brazilian journalist Igor Miranda, frontwoman Courtney LaPlante talked about her hopes of seeing a woman win for the award first time. “I can’t believe it. I’m so excited. And I was so surprised last year when we were nominated. To be nominated again for the same body of work is such an honor. But I will say the thing that makes this one different to me is that usually, historically, it’s all legacy bands [that get nominated], the biggest bands in the world, and then maybe one small band — maybe. But this time, instead of just us as the small band, we and Knocked Loose and Poppy, where both of us, two of the five bands are younger bands. And we have Gojira, who had the greatest metal performance of all time at the Olympics as well in there, which is so cool. But I'm so inspired that both of us — us and Knocked Loose and Poppy — are nominated because I've never seen that before where two newer bands both got in there. So I think we're both really excited for each other. And if we don't win, I would love for them to win" “Since this award has ever existed — this award, the first year was when I was born, in 1989. There was one year when Lzzy Hale and Halestorm won when it was the Hard Rock and Metal Grammy ['Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance'], but no woman has ever won the Best Metal Performance Grammy since it came out in 1989. And I think about that every year. I'm almost 36 years old. 36 years, a woman's never won. And now there are more chances than ever for a woman to win. So I'm really excited. I hope that we win. I hope that Knocked Loose and Poppy win. Or if Gojira wins, there's a woman who's an opera singer on that song. So there's three out of five chances for that ceiling, that glass ceiling to finally shatter." #spiritbox #metal #metalcore #metalhead

Gibson has issued a cease and desist order to Trump Guitars owner 16 Creative, accusing it of infringing upon its trademarks. I didn’t even know Trump could shred, but he has endorsed a new line of MAGA-inspired instruments. The guitars feature the Trump campaign slogan inlaid in the neck of the guitar, while the number "45" is on the headstock. The guitar body features an American Eagle with an American flag backdrop. In a new statement shared with Guitar World, Gibson writes: “We can confirm a cease and desist has been issued against 16 Creative as the design infringes upon Gibson’s exclusive trademarks, particularly the iconic Les Paul body shape.” Trump does not appear to own the company, but the guitars have been billed as "The Only Guitar Officially Endorsed by President Donald J. Trump." #rock #metal #hardrock #guitar
Three Days Grace has released their first single with the return of original frontman Adam Gontier. Adam and current vocalist Matt Walst split vocal duties on throwback sounding “Mayday.” Last month, the band teased the release saying “After performing together in Nashville around this time last year and spending time in the studio since, we’re excited to announce the official return of Adam Gontier to vocals in Three Days Grace, with Matt Walst remaining as a lead vocalist, as well.” As for what inspired the new track “Mayday,” Walst says "Sometimes life is turbulent, but beyond the clouds is blue skies. So, just keep going." What do you think of it? #rock #metal #threedaysgrace #divorceddadrock @Three Days Grace
