If you have pain due to inflammation ibuprofen might be the better option for you. The most common cause of pain below the neck is myofascial which can have inflammation. However if you have history of stomach ulcer, kidney disease, heart attack or stroke tylenol will be better to avoid further long term side effects from ibuprofen. Tylenol when taken over 4,000mg per day can potentially cause liver disease.
